Bit of undercloaking (dp has told me it's called) has fallen off garage roof onto drive. House is an estate built house built in 2003. Is it perfectly safe to assume this would not be asbestos? Friend mentioned theirs was made of asbestos but her house is 70s.

At first I was confident it wouldn't be and now I've just googled to confirm when it was banned and am panicking it could be old stock. House was built along with hundreds of others so they would have stuck to the law surely wouldn't they?! Currently pregnant and easily paranoid!!

It was banned in 99 , I would have thought the chances of it sat somewhere for 4 years waiting to be used to save money would be zero.

Yeah, not used in construction from 2000, so think you're totally fine. No idea what undercloaking is though!

Yeah, i would assume that the ban would mean that it wouldn't pass building regs with asbestos in it - so no need to worry about whether the builders would have avoided obeying the law! If it's a big build by a large company, I'm sure you're even more ok.

Pregnancy sends you mad, doesn't it?

I had post natal anxiety and my psychologist told me that asbestos is one of the top worries that she sees! That made me feel better - ie it is just anxiety. It's classic anxiety. So, you aren't right, it isn't asbestos! You're just worried about the same things that everyone else worries about! Hope that helps in some weird way...

@Legofriday that's interesting to hear about asbestos being a common anxiety! Thanks for your reply. I've definitely worried more about everything since being pregnant!!
