Best type of wood flooring for bedroom?

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to this sort of thing, I need some help with finding the right type of flooring. I want dark wood coloured, maybe a dark oak or walnut. It needs to be hard wearing and resistant to scratches as we have a desk with an office chair in there. We are on a limited budget, ie as cheap as possible without compromising quality too much. The room is about 10sqm. What sort of thing should I look for? We've got laminate elsewhere in the house and it chips and scratches very easily.

I have dark quickstep laminate and it works really well! If not then maybe click vinyl would be more hard wearing?

Thank you I'll look at that brand!

We have Krono Original Appalachian Hickory. Really pleased with it. I'd go for the best underlay you can afford for sound insulation.
A lot of people use steam cleaners which can damage laminate floors; we just hoover and use a slightly damp e-cloth to mop.

The master bedroom (14 X 10 foot) including flooring, 5mm underlay and matching scotia was under £400.

Look at unilin quickstep vinyl. Cheap, tough and good quality.
