Hi All,

I know a lot has been discussed on this topic already but I could not find anything recent hence asking this question again :)

I am looking to move to Bucks hopefully this summer. I am looking for a good state primary school for my 7 year old (who will go to year 3 in Sep). Our budget is around 400k - 425k, have looked at Amersham and we did not find anything nice for our budget. Since my hus works in Sunbury we want to stay closer to south bucks so the commute is not a big hassle (he drives). How are the areas around high wycombe ? Some of the old forums suggest that the crime rate is pretty high around high wycombe and the places are not very nice to live ? Anyone moved to bucks recently or looking to move ? Any advise will be appreciated.

I have friends who live in and around high Wycombe and it seems fine from their point of view (they moved as couldn’t afford to buy in the villages they grew up in)

Lane end is just down the road and quite a nice feel about it but cheaper than Marlow or Amersham.

Another vote for Lane End. Just down the road from Marlow, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so surrounded by gorgeous countryside. We have friends who live there, the local pub (Grouse & Ale) is fab! Loads of good schools around the area and easy access to the M40. Definitely worth a look. Have you seen anything you like the look of?

thanks for your advises. We haven't been to the area yet but have been looking at the available homes in right move. There are detached properties in havenfield road, sabina close and lyndurst close that we have shortlisted for viewing.

I looked at lane end... it has only one school in the area 'Lane End Primary School' which does not have a good academic record.

Admittedly Lane End primary isn’t the best (although improving with an excellent Head). However just down the road is Frieth which has a great reputation and Stokenchurch is ofsted outstanding. Children in Lane End attend many different schools in the area.

Yes I’ve heard the little village schools nearby are amazing

I actually didn’t realise lane end even had its own school as no one I know has sent their children there
