Steel enforced vs resin windows

Me & DH have had around 6 quotes for new windows and doors. We're now down to 2 but having difficulty with the final decision as one is a little more expensive but steel enforced, the other work out around 20% cheaper overall but the windows are enforced with resin. The arguments are:

  1. Steel enforced means the locks are screwed into the steel so therefore more secure however they are poorer in thermal efficiency.
  1. The resin windows guys reckon theres no difference with safety as theirs are "secure by design" but as they buy in rather than manufacture their own windows they can't comment on how the locks attach and they may only be secured to the UPVC.

Truth is I don't actually know if there is any difference security wise and therefore if the extra 20% is worth it. All agree thermally the resin windows are better. Any ideas MumsNetters? We're all windowed out and fear way have just over-researched and given ourselves a headache for no good reason Confused
