Larger House Extension under Permitted Development

Hi. I have plans to build a single-storey 4.5 metre extension. I am allowed to do so under permitted development (PD) rights, valid until May 30, 2019. PD stipulates that the work must be completed by this date. We have obtained prior approval, but we haven’t yet got a builder in place, so will not be able to achieve this deadline.

Do you know if the date is likely to be extended again, or what we can do? Will we need to put in a fresh application under the full planning process if not completed by the date stipulated? We are currently in limbo as I’m sure many people are! Any planners / experts out there with advice please?
Zoe

I read in the times this morning that the housing minister has just said that PD to 6m will be extended permanently www.thetimes.co.uk/article/395760e2-6c11-11e9-95be-9353feb218cd

It is going to be permanently extended according to a governmental paper. I think you have to have started the work (in a substantive manner - eg dug foundations) rather than have to have it finished for it to qualify under a previous regime.
