So hubs been working in Shrewsbury for the last year, and he's had a two hour daily commute which is taking its toll on the family. The only reason I've held back for so long is due to the kids in school. My eldest is SEN but doesn't currently have an EHCP (although now its been applied for now). Sadly daughter isn't as comfortable as we thought so and with the heavy cost of fuel we've decided to move closer to Shrewsbury. Problem is, neither of us know Shrewsbury so we have no idea where is nice to look at and the areas to avoid! Obviously there are older threads which I've read through but most of them are years old and things change.
If anyone could point us in a nice area, and also warn us of a particular worse area, I'd be extremely grateful.
Thanks

Might be lucky posting in the Local area ? Doesn't seem like a lot of traffic, but you never know.

If your dh has been working there for 2 years, has he not met people that might be able to give some opinions ?

I may get more traffic on this by adding Shrewsbury in the title - i thought the thread would be about packing boxes and removals!!
I really don't know that area but have visited friends that live in Ellesmere - it's about 40min commute and it's beautiful. They're raising two children up there and there seems to be loads to do. I'm on the South Coast but long term our plan would be to move up that way into Shropshire, its beautiful.

Do you want to live in Shrewsbury or in a surrounding area?

I always liked belle vue, Frankwell, kingsland is nice but expensive, or further out there’s mytton oak and Bicton heath. Bayston hill is also a popular place to live.

The south side of Shrewsbury is thought of better than the north. And the schools on the south side often have better reputations as well.
