Long distance removals

I'm working out the costs of potentially moving 6.5 hours drive away.

Can anyone tell me roughly what it would cost to move the contents of a 4 bed house please?

Is it worth paying extra for them to pack for us?

Recommendations for who to use too would be lovely Smile

A few years ago we moved from a 4 bed. We had two lorries and an overnight stay at a hotel. Full packing service. It was about £6k. Stress free. I gave them the keys and they got on with it. Just had to think about children and pets only.

No idea on costs for that distance but definitely pay for packing. It's worth every penny. They do it all so quickly and it's stress and hassle free.

Who did you use Finfintytint?

I thought it's probably worth paying for packing. Good to have it confirmed.

I can’t remember the name of the company as dh’s company picked them as it was a relocation. Based in Chester.

It cost me £4.5k to move from Suffolk to North Yorkshire (5 hours) in 2011. Used Abels and had a full fragile pack. They were fantastic.

Moved 5 miles last year and paid Britannia £3k. Bishops Move wanted £4.5k and refused to listen when I said I thought they had got the volume wrong when quoting. I was proved right volume wise when it came to the day !!

We did a 3 day / 600 mile move for a 4/5 bed house plus garage contents a couple of years ago. Several quotes from big national companies - all around the same £3 to £3.5 k price. Packing service cost is minimal (like a couple of hundred quid). One big wagon.

We used GB Liners, and I’d happily recommend them.

Ours was summer 2018, Essex to Lancashire roughly £3k for a 3 bed house over 3 stories, including packing. The company was Schofield.

No idea about long distance moves, but we’re moving imminently a short distance - packing is stupidly cheap - definitely go for packing!
