Ikea Hovag Mattress - opinions please!

I’ve read some terrible reviews about the chemical smell and that the mattresses starts to dip in the middle really quickly. But also read some great reviews and for the price they seem worth a punt.

Those who’ve had them a good while- how well have they worn?

I lay on both in store today and found the medium firm a bit too soft and bouncy but the firm a tad hard. I’m that case am I better trying the firm and adding a topper if necessary? PResumabky you can make a hard mattress softer but not a soft mattress firmer?!

The mattresses are going in a holiday let so need to be reasonably universally comfortable where possible.

I think this is what we have, but without stripping the whole bed to find the tiny tag I can't tell.

Our Ikea mattress is really comfortable and we've had it about 3 years and has held up well.

Got one. Love it! We have had it for about 6 months and i cant fault it. We got the firm one.

We had IKEA pocket spring mattress but it was called something else then. It was ok but not great. Have replaced it with MORGEDAL (memory foam firm one) and this new one is so much better.

We've had the Hovag a few months - medium firm. Very comfortable. Chemical smell went in 24 hours.

Brilliant! Thanks all. I did feel that the medium firm was a teeny bit too soft. I wish they did one in the middle of them both.

I’ve looked at Hypnos but they are on the pricey side and as it’s for a holiday let it’s the risk of them getting ruined at that price that I can’t face.

@claire697 next time you’re changing the sheets can you update this please!!

We have one. Medium firm. I love it! No smell either. No dip.

We initially got the Morgedal one, but couldn't get use to it as it's only about 17'' deep, it was so low, so we exchanged it for the Hyllestad, the medium firm. Had this for about 8 weeks. Both DH & I wake up with backache every morning, I wake up with neck, shoulder & headache. I've tried new pillows as well so no difference there. We can't exchange it again, ikea only let you do this once. So we're really hoping it's just taking a longer time for our bodies to adapt to a new mattress.

We have the firm one, no smell. It’s fine, very comfy.
