Parking in Old Town Eastbourne, and schools!

Hello, we are considering moving our family to Eastbourne. We have 2 boys currently in Y2 and Y7. We'd like a spacious family home ideally in the Old Town not too far from Waitrose (hehe), but most houses there don't have parking. Does anyone live near there or know how difficult parking can be? We're not set on the Old Town though, as long as it's a nice family leafy area.

Also, we've started looking at schools and understand it may be difficult to get into our nearest schools... so I may have to drive to take my boys to their schools. Any advice on which Primary and Secondary schools to avoid?? Or which ones do you recommend?

Thank you so much for any help!

Some roads are very narrow and people have multiple vehicles, as anywhere! Therefore depends on the road, as much of the housing is terrace without large front gardens many roads are on street parking only. I don't personally live in this area but know those that do and actually most say you can park nearby not generally outside but within walking distance. There are plenty of good (primary and secondary) schools in the wider old town area, I'd personally go further away from Waitrose closer to the schools where the houses are bigger, roads wider and many have driveways! Traffic generally in Eastbourne I do not find that bad, but I don't tend to drive the school run or commute to work so can't really comment on 'rush hour'.

Other areas to consider depends on budget, willingdon is nice, or Ratton area, family friendly and quieter, as is the summer down area, Devonshire is more 'up and coming' so you'd get more for your money, and generally less cars and closer to the beach depends what you need as with anywhere I guess!

Personally I think Willingdon may suit you better. Nice schools and much easier parking in a green leafy area.
