Bathroom planning: have I really got space for a separate bath and shower

I am creating a new ensuite bathroom from a bedroom that is 3.05 x 2.5m approx...will it be too cramped with both a separate shower and a bath? i really want both rather than a shower over the bath.

Yes, I would say so. If you get the layout right.

Auntpetunia2015 · 20/04/2019 22:48

So 9ft by 6ft ish? Are their any windows ? Where is the door. My bathroom is roughly that but it’s internal so no window And the door is in the middle of one of the long walls I have a freestanding bath and a walk in shower as well as sink and toilet

Thedogisdrivingmemad · 20/04/2019 22:54

No I think that it translates as 9'9 by 8'5 or so. Yes there is a window but it is not huge.

Aunt do you find it cramped or ok?

It may be a good idea to get your self some graph paper and a slide rule. Use the slide rule to accurately draw out your space and then you'll be able to work out what will fit into the space.
The other suggestion I have is look at Houzz.co.uk
You will find a very well informed and helpful community

Yes you have room. I've just done a bathroom that is about 2m x 2.5m. The bath runs along the back wall (2m) with room for a tall cupboard and then a 80cm x 80cm sized shower cubicle. Also room for a large vanity.

Auntpetunia2015 · 21/04/2019 09:36

You’ve got more than enough room. Mine is 9ft 3 x 6ft 4 or 2.82m x 1.93m. It’s doable but depends where doors are etc.

I don’t find mine cramped at all it amazes me how much we’ve got in and yet it seems twice the size it did when I bought the flat.

Using the right tiles and fittings makes such a difference if Id have got a standard bath I couldn’t have had a free standing shower as it wouldn’t have fitted but the freestanding baths are shorter but deeper, more like a plunge pool so mine fits across the short width of my room but being free standing you can see around it so the room looks like it carries on if that makes sense.

Ill take some pics if you want.

Aunt that is the type of bath I had in mind...1500cm long I think?
There are some gorgeous ones.

That's plenty of room. Ours is about 3m x 2m and we have a double ended bath, twin basis, corner shower and toilet! Where is the door and would it be possible to move it? We have bath at short end under window; twin built in basins that are on the long wall at right angles to the bath; quadrant curved shower in the corner and then the toilet next to that. Door is on the long wall opposite the basins.

Bath from the shower

That’s enough room...we did it in a 5’ x 11’ room. The trick is no shower cubicle. We made a wetroom with just a screen between the shower/ bath and the rest of the room. The shower area is nice and big.

Thanks for the photos! The wetroom shower looks great but I do prefer a cubicle.

I'm not sure how big my bathroom is exactly, but we put in a Japanese style soaking tub, which isn't as long as a regular bath. That meant we had room for a good sized shower too.

That looks great ...love your tiles.

Thanks Thedog, they were Fired Earth but from a few years ago. I like in-between colours, and those tiles sometimes look grey and sometimes pale blue depending on the light.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/04/2019 00:15

They still have them, Forecast and the colour that I have is Cromerty. www.firedearth.com/tiles/range/forecast/mode/grid

Ok that's great!
