Where to go?

My partner and I are both from London (me West, him North) - both teachers, living in North North London (as in, by the M25)

Both our sets of families are still in London and we have a 2 year old. We own our home and we want to sell up to get a bit more space. But where? We've got a budget up to 418k.
I've been looking at Watford. I want to stay in my job for a little longer which is in Finsbury park. Oh and I think I want another child in the not too distant future.
Help me! Where could we live? xx

Does your partner work in the same area as you as well, or a different school/area? I imagine both of you would want a comparable commute out of fairness? Would you drive or take the train in?

I've used this website for exactly this sort of reason. The properties on there are a little bit biased towards Zones 1-3 in london rather than the M25 area, but you might have some luck.

I put in some of your requirements, and it suggests some of the following areas for example:

That's such a good tip, thank you! My partner is leaving his job this summer so can be more flexible (will probably supply until we're sorted)

I think I want green and nearer my family and a house but i'm just not sure where would work!

Have you looked at Hitchin? Direct train to Finsbury Park. Where does your family live?

You probably know that Willesden and Wood Green are 'gritty' - sounds like you are looking for something a little more suburban? Herts and Bucks have some lovely areas.

I have - my family are in the suburbs of west london so north of Finsbury Park would be too far from them. That's why I feel Watford would be a good shout?

Thank you though!

Suburbs of west London would be Ealing - but that's expensive . You'd get a 2bed flat for that budget
Hounslow could get you a house
Northolt
Some parts of Uxbridge
