I really want a loft conversion to get a space for the kids (currently we have lounge and kitchen downstairs so nowhere to hide) and possibly a study for me (doesn’t need to be huge). The stairs can go directly over our existing stairs, but DH is worried what size/shape space we’ll get. We’ve had two companies in who said it’s very straightforward and we have a good space so no need for dormers, and quoted around £28k but were both laid back about floor plans saying we could work out exactly where internal walls go later. DH still is not sure and wants exact plans. (He’s an engineer) Is it worth getting an architect? Could I work out the the final floor size and ceiling slope/height somehow?
