Where on the C2C train line

Looking to buy a house and would ideally prefer to travel on the C2C train line rather than Greater Anglia (currently use this line and it's awful). Totally fed up with looking and need help! Does anyone have any tips on nice places or areas to avoid please? FTB, budget around 400k. I'm a city worker, DH drives to work. Thanks!

How many bedrooms do you need?

We used to live in Chalkwell - part of Southend on Sea, and we had many happy years living there. The people are wonderful, and Southend is a good place to live - lots going on culturally, plenty of fun things to do too, and good schools.

Chalkwell is lovely (and a bit cheaper than Leigh). I'd love to move there.
Avoid Tilbury and Pitsea. There are parts of Basildon (Whitmore Way area) that are ok, but they are really too far from the station (by the time you add the time and expense of a bus, you'd be better going that bit further to Chalkwell).

Yes to chalkwell or leigh. South Benfleet also nice.
