Relocating (Merseyside) to become parents - what are the most important things to look for?

Currently living abroad and will be til I'm 7 months pregnant. We both love Liverpool - DP lived there for 5 years during and after uni and my family are from nearby. On a budget so need lowish rent so we can save. Need to research which areas are best suited but not sure which factors are most important for first year of DC's life.

Somewhere you're comfortable pushing a pram around. Parks, coffee shops, things accessible on foot are good. If you know other new parents, if make sure you are close by - network is so important during that first year (for you, assuming you're on mat leave for a good chunk of it).

Not a long commute to work for dp

Aigburth or Mossley Hill would be great areas. Also look near Allerton Road.

While on maternity leave - somewhere you can walk with the buggy to both a shop and a park, bonus points if you can walk to baby groups too (normally held in village halls/churches/sports centres)
And for the days when nothing has gone to plan - a short commute back for your other half, and a nearby takeaway!

Look round lark lane or Woolton. Nice not too far from into the city. Nice parks round there and things to do. There's a fb group called Liverpool bumps, babies and little tiddlers. It's worth joining and asking there for advice on best places to move to in the city for nursery/ schools things to do. I love Liverpool such a nice city ! We love just outside!
