Carpet claim on house insurance

I accidentally split a bottle of red nail varnish over my wool mix lounge carpet not realising the top wasn’t on, it’s a 28 foot long room. I tried removing it by blotting with stain remover but there’s still large obvious stains in an area I can’t hide.

I was thinking of claiming on my accidental damage cover as a new carpet would be really expensive but have been told it won’t be covered if I tried to remove the stain. Does anyone know about carpet claims please ?

i had to claim on my insurance once for a dropped iron and it was straightforward they came looked at the carpet which was an axminster and expensive they then a couple of days later sent a letter with the shop to go to to choose a new carpet, was told a certain range which were vile so i said dont want those patterns and they gave me free rain to a price per sq yard, trying to get the stain out will probably go in your favour as you can show that the stain has ruined the carpet good luck
