First-time buying in Godalming

Hello!

First post here. My bf and I are hoping to move out of our London rental flat to somewhere on the Portsmouth to Waterloo commuter line.

I grew up in Fernhurst/Haslemere and he in Effingham, we are both family-oriented and both our families still live there, so it makes sense.

Godalming is the favourite at the moment as a recent visit made me feel like the town was modernising a bit - more trendy cafes/arty shops/generally a bit of a younger vibe than 10 years ago when I worked in a now closed-down shop there! It's also somewhere neither of us are already super familiar with, meaning it would hopefully feel more like 'ours' than moving a stone's throw from our parents might!

It'd be great to hear from anyone who lives there in their 30s? We don't have kids yet but would be looking for a 2/3 bed with the hope of maybe trying for one in the next few years.

I currently work remotely but my bf - and quite possibly me soon - would be commuting so it'd be helpful to know how people find that.

Thanks! :)
