Hi, I need some help.....my husband and I are relocating to Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire and we would like to know of decent places to live that are not rough ! We have three Border Collies so need to be somewhere with good walks, but my husband needs to be not too far from the M1 but not on top of it. Can anyone recommend decent areas to buy please. There seems to be a lot of properties coming in for Mansfield and Mansfield Woodhouse ? Also Warsop ? Am I right in thinking these are rough areas ? Or are they ok ? This will be our forever home so need to get this right !! Thanks everyone.

I might be biased because I've just bought my forever home in Warsop but I like the area. I find that any "nice" area will always have a road not too far away that is rough or someone doesn't like for one reason or another. Personally, I chose the house because of the inside space, the garden, closeness to family and the fact there's parks, shops etc in walking distance so the state of roads nearby (or even the road its on!) doesn't really bother me because there's other nice places that I'd be spending my time at.

Because we had a budget and a long list of things we'd like we compromised on location (which wasn't really a compromise at all because there's nice things about the area- like there is with any area). I know most people say buy the worst house on the best street but we found in our budget even those houses weren't what we'd like or were looking for in our forever home. and truthfully, I'd be spending a whole lot more time inside the house so the inside space and having the house of my dreams was way more important than the area- which can be nice its what you make of it. Sorry for the long message! xx

Have you looked at long Eaton?

That’s great thank you for that. I have seen so many houses come up for Warsop, Mansfield Woodhouse and yes I must admit we also have a budget and a list of “must haves” so may be we will go and look at these we have seen online. And yeah I would agree, there are rough areas everywhere !! It doesn’t matter where it is there will always be dodgy streets etc. Thanks again.
