Kitchen advice

My kitchen is old and needs replacing but I have literally no idea how to go about it! I don't want to go to a kitchen company to redesign it and cost me a bomb as I need to do it as cheap as I can.
I have no idea how to measure up, would a carpenter measure up for me? Do I then bring my measurements into Homebase for example, choose a kitchen and get them to order it all in? What about cooker hood do they do that too?
I know I probably sound like I am clueless but I am!! I have just never done this before and have no one to help or advise me! Please tell me how to go about it in baby steps 😆😀

A lot of the warehouse style places will do an initial plan for free, as long as you do the measurements, but this is also something you can do yourself on the ikea online planner
When it comes to the detail of hinges and infill panels, you'll most probably need a proper planning session
