Kitchen plinth lighting v undercounter lighting

Two posts in one day! Can you tell I'm stressed about my kitchen install??

In our original plan, I was going to have LED strip lighting installed at plinth level all around the kitchen. I talked to the fitters about what to do in front of the dishwasher, and I thought they said there was a solution to this. Turns out, I misheard, and there isn't. I can either:

  1. have the lighting stop before the dishwasher. But I think that will look weird, as there is a 300mm cabinet after the dishwasher, so it would look like half the run was randomly unlit OR
  2. Run cable behind so that the 300mm cabinet was lit, leaving a gap for the dishwasher. Can't decide it that would look weird or not.

Then there is bonus option 3, which is:
3) Don't have either of these, but have lighting run along the underside of the worksurface instead. But I don't know how that would work with a quartz worktop.

Any thoughts or experience? I need talking down!!
