Ex mortgage advisor here. There are so many factors that delay mortgage offers. This time of year surveyors tend to be very busy which can delay mortgage offers. I have had offers through in two days, and I have had offers take 6 weeks.

@nrpmum

Thank you. We put our offer in back at the start of February.

Our mortgage valuation came through over 2 weeks ago and we still haven't heard anything?is this normal?

Last week they questioned again how long my DH has been employed by his current company which is October 2017 which we told them already and they also knew last year when they gave us a mortgage!

Would we have heard by now if for any reason they wouldn't give us the mortgage? We both have excellent credit ratings and have never kissed any payments (home owners for 4 years). We do have some finance but are willing to pay off our finances with some of the equity in the house - which our broker said the underwriter preferred we do that apparently anyway!

Even if we didnt pay off the finances they said they would lend us much more than we are asking to borrow. Its making me panic quite a bit now that we havent heard yet?

They might have gone for an employer's reference which might be causing a delay. If you prefer PM me the lender and I might be able to shed better light.

We had our offer on a property accepted at the beginning of February and got our mortgage offer through on 8th March. Lots of queries toing and froing though which is nail biting stuff, but it does sound like yours is taking quite a long time.
