Hi all.
Last year we found out our neighbours were planning a loft extension. Because we already have a loft extension we were slightly concerned about the party wall being damaged after hearing some horror stories about what could potentially happen whilst their building work is being completed.
We messaged our neighbours about the party wall agreement, they eventually agreed & we then received the party wall award. Our neighbours made it clear they were unhappy about having to pay for this and have been ignoring us all year.
So the award expired at the end of March & we have just received an email from our neighbour stating they will be starting the loft extension in mid April. It seems they have deliberately waited for the award to expire so they could commence their building work without the restrictions put in place by the award.
We would like to know what are our rights under these circumstances, if any?
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!!
It might also be worth mentioning that last time out neighbours had building work they allowed their builders to dump some concrete in our rear access so we are now extra concerned about this loft extension.
