We've nearly reached the end of a loft conversion project and are looking at our flooring options. The loft now consists of a bedroom and small study room, plus an ensuite bathroom. We do not plan on moving up to the loft immediately, so it will be a guest bedroom for now.
I'm looking at advice about what type of flooring to choose. We had some beautiful engineered wood installed in our large living room last year (Woodpecker Chepstow, for aficionados!) and have been so pleased with how it's worn and its look. However, it cost a lot of money, and I don't think we need to spend this much in a room that won't have huge footfall, unlike the living room which does.
We have a brilliant local interior company who did our flooring last year and are installing new carpets on our staircases and landings. The owner advised us to go for a thinner engineered floorboard and I dutifully chose four from the Parador basic range to sample. However, we just do not like any of them!!
Back to the drawing board, then. I wondered whether a good quality laminate could get the colour and look we love without spending too much. Any thoughts from those who've been there, done that, or are in the know about all things flooring?? Would very much appreciate input, as we don't want to make a mistake. This is our first house and we are a bit green about such matters.
