Colour advice for south facing external render

Looking at putting an offer in on a rendered Victorian terrace.

It’s a doer/upper and one of the jobs is the external redecoration.

It’s currently cream but looks dated and needs patching in a few places.

It’s south facing.

I’d love to go bold like a dark blue or a mid green or purple but can’t find any examples to see if this works or looks silly.

I just don’t want to go down the white, grey or beige route as there’s not many other ways to brighten the front up as it is.

It’s south facing so not too sure if that would affect it.

Does anyone have an idea how much it would cost to hire someone in to do it?

I would look at paint company pix. I would hate to live next to a purple house! That’s anti social in my view. Hague Blue by F&B might be ok. There is a reason why people stick to the tried and tested colours!

We had the ground floor extension K rendered last year. It's mostly patio doors. We paid £750. I wanted something terracotta like, but was overruled by DH and plasterer! Went for cream. Doors are grey, drainpipes and guttering in black. South facing. It looks great in winter and summer and really reflects light back int the garden. Plants look lovely against it.
If you intend to sell eventually having spent money on upgrading, having an unusual colour would put off many buyers as it would cost to have it replaced by a more neutral colour.

A friend of mine had her whole house done in a slightly sparkly light terracotta, and had to reprint it as she couldn't get a buyer!

I like purple, I found this that gave me the idea. I certainly wouldn’t mind living next to it

I like the purple, it's not bright. I'd go for purple or blue.

That purple house looks pretty because it's a pretty house and the greenery softens the effect.
You need to make sure you pick a dull, weathered looking colour and not anything too strong.
I would think that a dark coloured south facing facade might make the house hotter and the paint weather less well. I really see the difference between the south facing front and north facing back of mine. The decor lasts much less well on the front, just because it's baked all summer long.

It’s a similar house so although not pretty yet, it’s pretty that I’m aiming for Smile

South facing might mean the dusky colours work better than bright maybe
