Decorating cost - is this about right

We have been quoted £2700 for a 4 bedroom detached house. All walls are as newly built with no filling needed etc. We are having one colour all the way through the house. There are 20 doors to paint.

We are midlands. Is this about right?

For comparison, we've just had a quote for 1 room of £350. Seems like roughly the same ballpark.

How many man days are they planning to take? That might help you see the daily cost.

Seems like a bargain!

flugelhorn81 · 22/03/2019 06:21

Sounds good to me, we paid just over £4K for our three-bed flat (incl stairs and ceilings). That included materials and we chose different colours but yours seems very reasonable.

P.s. we are in London...

Bargain

I would expect closer to 5k tbh.. I am in south east London though... I reckon a 4 bed house would take 2 men 2 weeks.. so 20 days labour

Shelley54 · 22/03/2019 08:08

I’m south east (not London) and I’d expect £150-£200/Day for painter decorators. So 20 days would be £4000.

Plus materials shelley

pisspants · 22/03/2019 08:58

I am in the SE and recently paid £120 per day for a handyman who was mostly doing painting and decorating.

We have a bedroom 3x4m newly plastered - needs walls and ceiling done all white. No window but new flush door and skirting boards. How long should this take?
