Time of completion

We've just exchanged on a house and are completing in 3 weeks - I just wondered how it has worked for others in the past in terms of what time you get keys on the day of completion? There's no chain so the agent is pretty confident we'll get them quite early but I've heard a lot of horror stories about sellers not vacating for ages...

When I completed, no chain, it was all done and dusted and keys released at 10am – but property was already vacant.

Completion itself shouldn't take too long – the paperwork was sorted at exchange; now it's just solicitors confirming money is all in the right place – and theoretically people should be packed and ready to go, and handing over keys takes a matter of minutes. But vendors not vacating is totally unpredictable!

@burritofan thank you! The sellers been very organised so far, but I know she's got her removal men going in on the morning of completion so feeling a bit anxious about it all being done in time for us to get our stuff in! I think we will book removals for the next day to be on the safe side!

We completed on Friday last week, we were selling ours and buying a new build. We got the call at 10am that our sale had completed and we had to be out ASAP, but our new house wasn't ready until around 1.30 (apparently common on new homes)

Should add we didn't leave our house until 11.30 as the movers were still in and then we had to clean as we couldn't do it before with all the furniture and boxes in.
