Bath screen on either side of the bath

Has anyone tried putting bath screens on both sides of their bath ?
Due to other building work in the house I am having to re-jig my tiny bathroom and will end up with a shower-over-the bath under a big window which runs most of the width of the wall. I'm concerned about water damage to the window when we use the shower but can't seem to fit it in anywhere else in the room.
I wondered about putting one of those folding concertina type bath screens on either side of the bath. Then we could fold them back when not in use and still have the lovely window.
Any bathroom gurus out there who could tell me if this a viable or totally stupid idea ?
Please help- I need to get the bathroom plan sorted in the next few days and can't seem to think straight anymore

What about this with an extra wide shower curtain?

PinkOboe · 18/03/2019 19:41

We had to have our bath / shower under a window. We had the recess and windowsill all tiled (with big tiles so less grout) and had a waterproof shutter suitable for bathrooms. All good so far

Thanks Wowfudge- I'm not so keen on shower curtains , they always seem to stick to me somehow.

PinkOboe- what sort of waterproof shutter do you mean ?
Like wooden shutters but made of some sort of water resistant material ?
Please could you tell me where you got it from so I could have a look ?

Could you get a waterproof roller blind that fits outside the recess?

mcjoap · 18/03/2019 22:11

Thanks Sweetheart -It's quite a big window though.
Will have a look at that option.
Just wondered if a bath screen on that side would do the same job ?

Never met a bath screen that didn't leak. 2 is just asking for trouble.

GreenTulips · 18/03/2019 22:16

We had a cheap roller blind
Changed it every couple of years
Did the job

these the waterproof ones

I had a bath screen on either side of the bath for the same reason as you - the bath sat underneath the window and had a shower over it. I never had a problem. They weren't particularly fancy screens or anything, just standard ones from B&Q or similar.

We used to have a shower curtain that went in a u shape, so contained all the water within the bath. Would something similar work for you?

mcjoap · 19/03/2019 21:09

Thanks PinkOboe - those shutters look very smart and lovely but quite expensive . Do you fold them back after the shower or keep the frames closed and just open the louvre bits ?

Monkeybunkey - glad to hear you had a good experience with the bath screens. Did you use the folding type that concertina up ?

I guess I could try a bath screen first while I catch my breath and recover from all the building work. Then have the option of adding the roller blind or shutters if the screen doesn't give enough protection....

No, just the standard straight screens. I could pull it in over the bath though, to clean behind it (in the same way as the outward facing one pulled out away from the bath, if you see what I mean).
