My husband and I are first time buyers and are buying an apartment that needs totally renovating. The electricity has been redone but not particularly neatly, so I imagine we will need someone to come and fiddle with it a bit. We are keeping the tiles on the kitchen floor but apart from that everything needs to be redone. We are planning to find professionnals and pay them to do all but the painting, but we've never owned a home before or hired anyone to do building work.
Any tips/advice/pitfalls to avoid?
