Mouldy wooden window grouting

Some of the windows in our cottage had mould on the grout when we moved in, and I tried to scrape it off but didn't have much joy.

It's weird grout in that it's squishy and you can squash and reshape it between your fingers if you scrape some out. They are double glazed wooden windows, I'm not sure if there is a special grout to be used or not...old houses have always had much more solid grout.

My current plan is to scrape what I can off, paint with special mould paint, and then repaint the windows as I have been planning to. Elsewhere I have painted over the grout with no problems, but the ones I did weren't mouldy.

Does anyone know if my method will be OK, or what else I should be doing?

I think it’s putty rather than grout but that’s as far as I can help. Grin

To be fair, that is a starting point! I don't know anything about windows 🤷🏽‍♀️

Have attached a photo of the worst one, the app wouldn't let me do it earlier.

This was recommended by our cleaner recently, and it's nothing short of a miracle!

Is it a black rubber seal, its very neat and even for grout.
