Plumbing/heating cover

We've been with British Gas for years but the standard of work (especially on the plumbing side) has gone downhill since that side of the business was fulfilled by dynorod culminating in them taking 4 attempts to fix our leaking toilet (which they cause to leak in the first place) and culminated in us needing (and them paying for) a new bathroom floor and a new kitchen ceiling.

Unsurprisingly i want to find a new provider (if nothing more than for the plumbing cover). Who do people recommend that use plumbers that actually know what they are doing?

I would never bother with getting cover. I know quite a few people that pay out quite large monthly sums then get poor service, or, even worse, the amount they are paying annually exceeds what any repairs/servicing would have cost in the first place. A great little earner for these companies.
Our boiler is serviced annually by a local firm, cost approx £100. If we need a plumber, we get one in and pay per job. In the great scheme of things the average well maintained house is not often going to need major plumbing fixes. You would do better to find a local reliable plumber that you can call on in times of need.
My fil was ripped off big time by his British gas service contract, and they tried to pressure him into a new boiler by telling lies about its condition, and that parts for repair were no longer available. Wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.
