landscaped land & 'private' notice

Hi All,

I live on an unadopted road still owned and maintained by Taylor Wimpey after 19 years. There's no monthly fee but the common land (a green strip we all use for dog walking, playing etc) is maintained, presumably by TW as know it's not the council.

A few of our neighbours have got fed up of parking problems (mostly caused by 1 household) and have put up a 'private road' sign. This effectively tells the rest of us that we may no longer use half of this land, the bit that fronts onto their houses.

It's not actually affecting me personally, but I am affronted by their actions on principle. I bear the brunt of the parking problems, I pick up their blow-away recycling, and I regularly weed the pavements (nobody else bothers). I am annoyed at this sign.

I can't find any documents, even on the Land Registry, that show the ownership of this land, as otherwise I would post them through their doors. I have written to the builders and the council and no response. Do you think I should just ignore this sign or pull it down? (I probably need bigger things to worry about!).

I wouldn't worry about it - after all, you are one of the people who actually live on the private road, so you are as entitled as anyone else to park there.
