Hello ladies,

does anyone have any opinions/info on Chalk Farm as an area to live? I've seen it try and be fobbed off as primrose hill or Belsize Park. Whilst walking around it feels nice, even very nice on some streets, other bits feel quite rough.

I like Chalk Farm. It's colourful and edgy and very urban, but a short walk from Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill, Belsize Park. It's also very central so you are in the West End or the City in no time (excellent public transport). There are lots of families living there so it's certainly not a no-go zone.

It is Camden really. As others have said there are nice roads and houses but they are right next door to very rough housing. Risks of drugs and mugging and boards if visitors up towards the lock.

I actually rather like it but you have to be realistic about the very mixed neighbourhood.

Like other people say, it's inner London so is bound to be a bit mixed. There are some issues with crime and drugs, but there are also family houses and professionals living there too. If you stay away you won't likely won't be involved in the grittier issues. Some streets are nicer than others. Happy to give opinions on certain roads if helpful. I'd say it's a mixture between Kentish Town and Camden, depending on which roads you're looking at.

There are some very good primary schools nearby. Not so many state secondaries though. Lots of lovely pubs and cafes too, and Hampstead Heath, Regents Park and Primrose Hill close by. Good transport links and lots of zone 1 is walkable... I live here and love it.
