When is it too soon to get a quote?

My porch and driveway need replacing, but we probably won’t be able to do it for 6 months. I can’t plan certain things until I have someone come and take a look at it(as I’m clueless on what’s possible, recommended and so on)

Eg porch roof is shared with NDNs. It’s currently a flat roof, I’d prefer pitched but if that’s going to be too disruptive to hers, I’ll stick with flat but need to know what to budget for. There’s other things like that I need to consider for size etc

If I got someone out to quote now, am I wasting their time? Will they need to requote? Should I mention the timeframe (on mybuilder) or do you think it will put people off bothering to quote?

Most good builders are usually booked up for that amount of time if not longer so I would get quotes now.
