Who can issue Electrical installation certificate?

Any knowledgable leccies out there? We had our house rewired a while ago as part of a bigger project. The electricians were employed through the builder who we subsequently fell out with. A couple of years later and we’ve pretty much finished the rest of the works and want to get building control but need an EIC. If I could I’d like to avoid causing any more issues with the builder (& have a feeling the electricians might make contact with him) SO.....is it at all possible another appropriately qualified electrician could do the testing and issue a cert? Have a feeling it might not be but if I can avoid opening the can of worms that’d be a relief!!! Very grateful for any advice!!

I should clarify that building control application went in eons ago before any works started.

A new electrician can not verify another electricians work but you may be able to have an EICR done on the property which would test everything a fresh and give you certificate that all was well.

the problem is that the certificate contains signature boxes...

"I designed it"

"I installed it"

"I tested it"

so nobody else can truthfully sign them.

Thanks for your replies. Suppose my best option is to contact building control and ask what they will /won’t accept.... hopefully an EICR if I’m lucky, if not will just have to be brave!!

Another electrician would be very reluctant to sign off work that they didn’t install. Did the original electricians complete all the electrical work or did a new one as you said that you finished the work a few years after falling out with the builder.
