Just nosing on the net.

I guess compromises had to be made, but this is an odd one!

I like it and it's very cheap for Stockbridge.

If I was wanting to live in a 1 bed in that area, it would be on my list definitely.

Fooferella · 26/02/2019 09:37

I think it's a good use of that space since it's only a one bedroom. If you think about it only the couple/person who live there need access to the bedroom so it makes sense to have the bathroom accessible from the lounge area. If you have guests over they don't have to go through a bedroom to get to the bathroom. The only thing about this layout is that the bathroom would need to be kept scrupulously clean if it's going to double as a hallway! (Not that a bathroom shouldn't be kept scrupulously clean anyway but you know what I mean...)

Another house with a weird en-suite bedroom layout!

What are Scottish architects doing!

My 1 bed Morningside flat had a long narrow toilet with the smallest sink I’ve ever seen. At some point a previous owner had gone through the wall to the living room to take space to put a bath in - so there was a half-the-width-of-a-bath chunk sticking out in the living room. A friend in the New Town also had a shower in the cupboard in her bedroom, as mentioned upthread.

Also, it cracks me up that this flat is in Stockbridge yet has a Morningside sign in the kitchen. It’s only up the road! And is of course infinitely superior.....☺️

Macaroonmayhem · 27/02/2019 07:53

Ha ha Chocolate that is along the road from me! That looks to me like a child who has left home and come back and the ‘sauna room’ is the only place they have in the house to put them.

If the en-suite was accessed in the normal manner via the bedroom you would need an additional cloakroom for guests, the current layout means the bathroom is effectively a Jacknjill shared between visitors and owners. I like it but is seems expensive given the size.

I think it's lovely, the layout wouldn't bother me at all in a one bedroom flat.

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 27/02/2019 23:04

I actually think it's a lovely flat too, but I think it might be difficult to sell with that layout. I reckon it would be easy enough to live with it, but it's certainly going to be a niche property.

I like that bit of the layout! One bedroom flat with only one toilet, so needs to be accessible for guests, but you still feel like you almost have an ensuite. Only thing I don't like is the doors to outside from the bedroom - not sure I'd feel comfortable sleeping there!
