Adhesive door numbers?

We're in the process of smartening up the front of our house, it's a Victorian terrace with a teeny (2ft) front yard up to the door.

So far we've farrow and ball-ed the door a lovely grey and I've ordered chrome door accessories.

I need to order some door numbers, we've got a window above the door and all the smart houses round here have it frosted with the number. I can't afford a new panel, and I've seen that you can order an adhesive panel to look like etched glass, has anyone tried these and do they look ok? Slight complication is that the panel is already a horrible frosted glass so it would have to be affixed to the outside so I'm worried any peeling would look awful.

The other option is to buy chrome numbers for the door itself.

It's a three digit number so it has to be digits not words.

Any wisdom much appreciated.

I have window above all my internal doors and have used adhesive on all of them to 'name' the rooms. i bought them from ebay and just send an a3 mock up of what i wanted. they look etched and came out really well with only one mistake but at £.50 it was too expensive to scrap and start again

How about numbers etched into a piece of slate? Lots to order on Amazon. Would look nice with your door.
