UPVC or Wood

I really HATE the upvc french doors in my back lounge. I have (and dont like but can live with) UPVC doors and windows through the rest of the house, a period semi. But the ones in the back lounge really annoy me as you sit looking at them.

BUT I have been quotes 4.5K to replace them with wood. This is by 2 companies. I will get more quotes from local companies but still is this ridiculous. We are planning on staying int he house but my husband says there is no point when all the other windows are UPVC. To quote him ' its not even as if anyone but us will see them'. The doors wont add value or anything like that in our area. Any thoughts, is it ridiculous to spend that much ?

Hi
We extended our kitchen about 18 yrs ago admittedly, and put wooden double glazed doors i. one set opens in. The back door bit opens out, then rest of the 1891 victorian got blessed with UvPC sometime in the 70:s by some ejit who probably took out the original sashes..
So i say wood every time

Thanks, i was about the ask the price, then I realised 18 years not months! Do you still like the doors? I am thinking UPVC will date and wood wont. I am i mad?

I can seen your husbands point of view

And this is coming from someone with 100% wooden doors and windows. Everyone says I should ditch my windows and doors for upvc but I know it would ruin my particular house. Costing a fortune refurbing and secondary glazing them.

If my house was already fully upvc i’d look into the residence 9 or haloflush range. They look more wood like.

I have at residence 9 they look like they might be a good compromise. I am going to investigate hem more now. Thanks for the advice.

Got an appointment booked for someone to come and quote for residence doors and a showroom to visit. Feeling optimistic!!
