We are having a 2 story extension added and the central heating is being replaced. The plumber had told me the underfloor heating in the kitchen/diner/family room will be on one thermostat in that room. Downstairs radiators (lounge, playroom, hall, utility, we) will be on one loop and upstairs (5 bedrooms and a bathroom) will be on another loop. So I need a thermostat for the two radiator zones..... I guess I should be getting a smart thermostat.... what should sway me between hive or nest? The plumber was talking about 1 of them having to be plugged into the router. He also said one was battery powered, whilst the other had to be plugged/wired in. ( I can’t remember which was which!).
Does anyone have any words of wisdom with what they have installed. I don’t think I’m that interested in the learning aspect of them. What I like is being able to control them from my phone when I am not at home, or stuck on the sofa/ in bed 😀. In my last 4 bed house, everything was on one zone and we had a Honeywell wireless thermostat which we were happy with. We liked the fact we could move it around, but maybe that was for portability of control rather than sensing the temperature in different areas. Thanks for your help.
