Has anyone bought a probate property? What was your experience like ? Were you in a chain? Did the owners get you into a bidding war?

You won't be in a chain above you but if you are selling then there will be a chain. The experience shouldn't be any worse (provided the executors have obtained the grant of probate...........) and on balance is likely to be easier.

No but I have sold a private property and there were no issues.

They tend to be sought after because quite often doer uppers which is reflected in the cheap price

Yes, it was open house and we offered asking price which was accepted. Found out later they'd subsequently had higher offers but stuck with us as they'd accepted our offer.

Check they already have the grant of probate, as it could delay things considerably if they don't.
It might take longer to hear back on offers if there are multiple parties with a stake in the property, as they will need to agree whether to accept or not.
We looked at a couple but the amount of work needed on those was too much (we bought somewhere we could live in while doing work over a few years, rather than a full gutting job).
