Hi allSmile

not sure if I am in the correct section for this or not but here goes . . .

My partner informed me last night that he was speaking to the next door neighbour and he said that there was a power cut on Saturday from early morning to late afternoon and funnily enough we did see he energy company's vans out and they were digging away , however I am very confused now as the neighbour told my partner that everyone in the row ( 6 terraced houses) had no power but us , and when he looked on the power suppliers website it said our area was down .

so how could we still have had power ? , the neighbour was confused to as he had seen the lights on when he came out at 6:20am when I was getting ready for work . my partner went out around 9:20 and returned 13:25 and there was still power so we never knew anything about this until last night. could it have been a problem with our electric that tripped everyone else's or what ?? so confused.

If it was something to do with your house, I'm sure you'd know about it. It'll just be that your supply wasn't affected by whatever happened. It's possible that you are supplied from a different place too.

Probably supplied from elsewhere. Do you have overheard mains? I get this a lot where I live where random houses don't get cut off - something to do with their sources being different.

Electricity in the UK is mostly three-phase. That means the cable under the pavement contains about four wires, and you, and the neighbour on each side, might all be connected to a different one.

It's possible for one or more to be damaged while one or more are still working.
