A unique little conversion, very modern and stylish.

See if you can spot the difference from the sales photo and what the Streetview car caught!

I was suffering from Facebook envy. We have a broken down 3 bed terrace, not far from Abbeyhill. Facebook friends pics from her house are in her massive dinning kitchen and she always has people staying so at least 4 bed. She put her sale ad up and because it’s in West Lothian it’s literally 1/2 the price despite being twice the size.

We’re stuck because of elderly relatives and schools. Hoping it works out at retirement.

LoniceraJaponica · 07/02/2019 22:23

Our 4 bedroom detached with 2 bathrooms, garage and garden is only worth £50k more than that house. We are in South Yorkshire BTW.

SileneOliveira · 07/02/2019 22:30

I grew up near there too! Well, just through the park in Willowbrae. That is a busy road too that it's on and yeah, east coast mainline isn't going to be quiet. Lovely inside though, loads of light.

That area has really boomed since the brewery was demolished and the parliament was built. We had school swimming lessons in Abbeyhill baths and it was far from upmarket...

Spongeface · 07/02/2019 23:19

Oh swimming at abbey hill! I had forgotten all about that!!! We stopped that after a while and ended up swimming at scienes for some reason (from parsons green) not handy!

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 07/02/2019 23:27

A family member had a place near there (dumbeidykes) at the same time the parliament was being built and it doubled in price once it had been completed.

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/02/2019 23:59

Yeah that's a cracking streetview triple whammy! I'm not averse to some noise but I draw the line at the ECML that close

And yup, Edinburgh is expensive! Although I think their pricing is probably a tad optimistic! The attached building is abandoned too afaik which might cause issues

SileneOliveira · 08/02/2019 07:22

Spongeface - I was at Parsons Green too. You must have been beofre/after my time though as I don't remember anyone going to Scienes. Why they didn't just use the pool at Portobello High I have no idea.

dudsville · 08/02/2019 07:25

I like that they call it a mews. As if!

SoupDragon · 08/02/2019 07:32

Street view isn't up to date though. The graffiti has been cleaned off.

Clearly the railway line is still there but that is going to be obvious anyway.

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 08/02/2019 07:44

Street view isn't up to date though. The graffiti has been cleaned off.

I would imagine it was cleaned off fairly promptly, but my concern is that the grafitti was done when the building had clearly already been renovated, not when it was empty.

SileneOliveira ah parsy! Would have made too much sense for us to go to porty! Maybe it was more of a skive for teachers !? Grin

jemihap · 10/02/2019 06:45

Ooooh it's lovely, I can just picture myself sat in the back garden, below the level of the train tracks, getting gently showered in a mist of human sewage and toxic brake dust from the passing trains.

LadyKalila · 10/02/2019 07:21

Can't see maps or street views link

LadyKalila · 10/02/2019 07:22

exLtEveDallas · 10/02/2019 07:44

5 years ago, when we were house hunting for the first time, we neglected to do the street view thing the first time we travelled to view houses. It was a 90 min journey from where we were living to where we wanted to settle.

We picked 6 houses to see. When we got to them one had a huge factory right behind it (the back wall of the garden, which looked so nice on RightMove, was actually the factory building), one was directly on a busy A road/dual carriageway, one had a 20ft drop into a pub car park 2 ft from the front door and one had an electricity pylon in the garden!

Such a waste of time and effort - we wouldn't have considered any of them. We learned our lesson.

HeronLanyon · 10/02/2019 07:53

Hmmm after an exceedingly interesting google dive I am now much more worried/agog at the old mission hall/police station next door. Has been licenced in past and has odd history of mad Armenian (?) restaurant run by monks. The sign appears to be Cyrillic. Also appears to be empty so ripe for who knows what development ??
Property is interesting but between railway and potential licenced premises !!!???

ChesterGreySideboard · 10/02/2019 08:03

Lady the link to the street view is part of the Zoopla listing.

LadyKalila · 10/02/2019 08:41

Can you post the link it would be helpful to those on phones

HeronLanyon · 10/02/2019 08:51

lady prepare for many many lost hours if you follow these instructions as street view via zooplankton and roghtmove etc completely set up for phones !

  1. Click link in ops original post. You are now on the zoopla listing page.
  2. Scroll down a little in the zoopla page you have opened until you see attached photo image.
  3. Click once on the map ‘arrow at bottom of circle’ icon (see photo).
  4. You are now in the map section of that zoopla listing. You can choose regular map view. Or street view (see photo).
Good luck.

I've lost the will to live 🤔

HeronLanyon · 10/02/2019 10:18

Apologies for trying to help you out there I guess. And thanks for the thanks. No problem at all. notladyintheslightest

CallMeSirShotsFired · 10/02/2019 10:20

Ugh, that looks so clinical and cold. Like you'd always need to wear a warm coat and shoes inside while waiting for the nurse to collect you for your procedure.

Then you look at the outside (graffiti and trains notwithstanding) and it looks all cosy stone and warm.

You take life too seriously, chillax!

HeronLanyon · 10/02/2019 10:39

I am one of the most ‘chillaxed’ of people. Just pisses me off when I waste time and people on mn are use. No need for it at all. Chillax yourself.
