Has anyone painted aluminium window frames?

Just wondering how this would turn out. I’ve inherited powder coated window frames which are lovely in style but really dark. I don’t mind this on the outside but indoors the rooms look really dull. I’d like to paint them white on the inside but worried this would totally ruin them. What do you think?

Never tried it but I doubt you'd be able to give it a good enough finish for it not to look like a botched DIY job.

We have had this done although was done by a professional who spray painted it for an even finish. Looks really good but I'm not sure I'd have tried a DIY job. You can specify the RAL code and get any colour you like.

Not quite the same but I spray painted metal sliding wardrobe doors with a spray paint and they came out really well. They have chipped where they bash and slide a little, but I did them over 10 years ago and they lasted pretty well.

Just used a spray can metal paint.

Thank you- yes I’m very concerned my finish won’t be professional! Walmartin how did you find someone that spray paints? I’ve had a google but it only brings up people who spray cars. Did the windows have to be removed of get done in situ?

No removing windows, they just put down loads of plastic sheeting and taped it all up so no paint went on the windows or surrounding areas. It went better than I expected actually, we weren't changing the colour but a builder had to organise it after he damaged the frames accidentally.
