Buying a new kitchen - where to start?

Are you self installing - if not find an independent kitchen installer, they generally get trade prices (cheaper) with places like howdens that don't sell to the public, and unlike the big shops you can have it delivered the next day (and swop bits that don't fit in the end) they have a kitchen design service but I did mine myself (use squared paper and measure at least three times!)
