Quarry tiles

Recently moved to an old cottage, we have quarry tiles in the kitchen which we don't like, tiling over is tricky due to built in cabinets.
Have tried cleaning but they still look really grubby - think it might be how they look... rather than them actually being dirty,
We could try a professional clean and gloss (or could try and do this ourselves by hiring a brush cleaner) or should we go for a new kitchen (floors/cabinets), which we hadn't really budgeted for but we probably would do in a couple of years time anyway.

Struggling to like the house - needs so much updating which we didn't seem to notice when we viewed (annoyingly).

Quarry tiles are beautiful when nice and clean. Maybe they would benefit from a professional clean if they are not coming up nice for you. But...if you hate them you hate them. You just might hate them less if they didn’t look grubby and you could maybe live with them until you replaced the whole kitchen.

Thank for the link. I think we could live with them for a bit longer if we could get the tiles to look like that.
