Glass doors - blinds?

Hi

Planning on a 2.7 m run of slim frame pivot and slide doors from sunseeker.

What have people done with blinds? There is an option to have integrated blinds but not sure if it will ruin the look or if we’ll realky need them. It won’t get any direct sun (boo!)

Thanks in advance!

We thought we wouldn't need the integral blinds but we did! I couldn't get anything to fit so in the end had to pay for the glass to be replaced this time with integral blinds, expensive mistake.

Do you think blinds are essential then? I was hoping we could do without. Is that crazy?

From experience the integral blinds are great. I’ve specified them in a lot of extensions, and the Clients love them! They say they people always comment on them more than the space. They are good for maintenance / cleaning / if you have kids. (Ps I’m not a blind rep)

We like ours. We aren’t overlooked so don’t often close them but I do when we are away.

We didn't need them for privacy so much but rather to block out the sun at certain times of year/day.

What was it like at night without them? This would be our sitting room so not sure if it would be cozy enough without

I think it’s nice being able to shut the blinds in an evening when your watching tv. Makes it feel warmer, cosier, especially if it’s snowing outside.

ILoveMarmiteToo · 01/02/2019 21:32

We haven’t shut ours but I did in the first year!

They are pretty expensive so we didn't get them (same doors). We face south, full sun into the room. Blinds would be nice but I don't regret not getting them for the price. Mind you, our doors are 4.5m so it might feel more affordable for a smaller run.

Binkybix · 01/02/2019 22:16

I just can’t decide! Might be nicer at night, but we’re not south facing so don’t need to worry about that. It is expensive, but not crazy. Not like the first set of doors I had my eye on - I saved money there!

We contemplated them but were advised against them because apparently they are a pain to replace if the blinds break. And we’d had a faff with non-integral blinds breaking beforehand.

South-west facing, not overlooked, whole run of Bifolds (with a slight tint) across the back of the house and no blinds in last year’s heatwave. We previously had (and needed) conservatory and various blinds on the back of the house.

I’m glad we didn’t bother with the expense. We wouldn’t have used them.
