Hmmmm ... letters from estate agents

In the last ten days I’ve had three unsolicited letters from local estate agents offering to value our house. The market round here has been moribund for the last few months and nothing’s been shifting - and the estate agents have been very quiet too.

I’m starting to wonder if they know something I don’t - or at least if they’re expecting a post-Brexit bounce in the property market? What do you think? Are they being ridiculously optimistic or is it the case that even if 29th March is the start of a complete economic disaster, at least something will have happened which could prod people into moving again?

We’re hoping to move reasonably soon but had been holding off putting the house on the market until we know what’s happening...

They are touting to get more properties on their books to sell. I wouldn't read anything into it except they have a bit of time on their hands and are trying to drum up business.

It generally means they have time on their hands. So, probably quite the opposite.

Sounds more like desperation....
If business is going well, they have no need to put time/energy/money into looking for business.
