Buddleia Removal - SE London

Hi,

New to mumsnet but have been reading good advice here over the years.

Does anyone have experience with Buddleia removal?

We are in the process of buying a property in SE London with buddleia (2no) cropping up in the parapet roof. It's affecting the parapet roof brickwork and box guttering behind it as the root has gone into the parapet roof wall.

Our homeowner's survey highlights the issue and outlines what work to undertake to resolve this and we have discussed it with the seller. All that they have done so far is cut back the buddleia as close to the brickwork as possible and poisoned it.

Further work needs to be taken to remove the buddleia completely (suggestion for the tree specialist to come back in may) and for the parapet wall to be rebuilt.

We obviously dont want to pay for the work to be undertaken and would like to negotiate the cost off the price of the property.

Anyone has experience with buddleia removal? Would we need to get a separate builder to undertake the parapet wall rebuild? Does anyone have recommendations on tree specialist/builders (we are in the SE London area (Deptford/New Cross)).

thank you!
