When are they moving ?

Tenancy runs out 15th March. They moved in and paid their rent 15th March last year. When do they leave by, is it midnight on the 15th kind of thing ?

It depends. They can choose for it to be by midnight on 15th or midnight on 16th. If they choose 16th they are liable for a days extra rent.

We found this out and used it to our advantage when house purchase was slightly later than expected. Letting agent didn’t charge the extra day.

Sorry, I misread your post.

If they moved in on 15th their tenancy will end on 14th. They can leave on 14th or 15th depending on agreement.

That’s what I thought, I just want to book the removals for the 16th

They don’t have to go, even if you are outside with a full removal truck and nowhere else to go...

Might be worth leaving a little more room in case they don’t leave.

They gave notice, they do have somewhere to go. There’s no drama here

depending when their new home starts, they might start moving stuff earlier. This can be quite convenient, but they are not obliged to vacate the old home earlier. After packing up I once slept on the floor of an old house and hoovered round ready for noon on moving day and met the new owners, agreed the meter readings and so on.

I don’t mind them staying til the last moment, they are paying for it after all
