Opinions on Dartford/Greenhithe/Swanscombe area

On paper, this general area would be great for me and my DP to move to based on commuting, but I don't know much about the areas. Does anyone have any first hand experience of these areas and any useful opinions or advice about where to avoid?

I think Dartford is becoming more popular due to the frequent trains to Charing Cross/London Bridge/Victoria. Crossrail is coming too soon and it will be a short journey from Dartford to Abbeywood where you can change to the Crossrail line. Dartford traditionally a 'working class' area, centre's not great but all the shops you need. I think the housing is very good value. Greenhithe and Swanscombe a bit dead but close to Bluewater and commuting a bit longer than Dartford.

Not sure if you're planning kids - be aware Kent is a selective County secondary school wise.

I live in the next town along from Dartford. I like it, close to bluewater and just over the bridge from lakeside.

Plenty of green spaces, good travel links onto London, my son is only little but is in a very good primary school.

I know this an old thread but incase any new readers are wondering about the same topic. I moved to Greenhithe last year and I am already considering putting up the house for sale. I really miss seeing countryside- find it depressing driving on the motorway to get anywhere. Pollution is terrible and makes me worry for my little ones health (permanent coughs since we moved) if the dartford crossing is closed the traffic can be really bad. Lack of nice parks only “country parks” which I find very forced and boring. Views in Greenhithe are very grey / covered in pylons.
Sorry to be negative but I wanted to share my experience as could give someone considering the move some insight! I can’t wait to move!
