Areas to live around Nuneaton

I'm starting a job in Milton Keynes in a couple of months and my partner works in Derby, so we're looking for somewhere on the middle ground but don't know the area at all! Nuneaton area is quite central and has great train lines to both ends, giving us the option to drive or commute by train, so I'm looking for recommendations on any areas to look at/avoid around Nuneaton, or nicer areas in that region?

Not desperate to be close to the town centre, I'd like to look at areas with low crime rates, community feel, nice village-y pub etc.

Any recommendations would be so helpful!

I'd avoid Nuneaton to be honest. There are thousands of new houses being built and I mean thousands. The traffic is horrendous and it's only going to get worse. Getting in and out of Nuneaton and neighbouring Hinckley is awful, as are the daily accidents on the M6 junctions 2-4 particularly. Throws the A5 into chaos.

If you are ok with commuting only I would suggest looking at Hartshill and Stoke Golding as both are easy reach to the station.

Rugby is nicer as towns go

I lived in Nuneaton for 10 years and have since lived in various places. I wouldn't recommend living in Nuneaton by choice particularly if your work isn't close. Crime is definitely high. I think areas around Rugby, Leicester, Northampton borders would be a better option for travelling to Derby and Milton Keynes.
