What day have people completed on their house purchase? I keep assuming it's gonna be a Friday but of course could be any day. Just curious

It can be any day apart from a weekend or bank holiday. You just need to agree it with the other parties in the chain.

It's usually a Friday because people then have the w/e to settle in and therefore need less/no time off work.

I’d recommend midweek so that you have an opportunity to get electrician/plumber/delivery sorted if any problems arise as you move in. Friday afternoon is not a good time to discover problems.

We went for a Thursday both times. Meant 2 days off work but reduced stress as we could make all the phone calls on the Friday and not rush.

We completed on a Wednesday in the end and it worked very well. The packers came in Tuesday and packed up the house and then we moved on Wednesday and I had the rest of the week as annual leave to unpack and get settled.

Personally I'd not chose Friday because it tends to be the busiest day for the conveyancers and removal companies. Plus, if the money doesn't go through correctly you are potentially left in limbo for the whole weekend.

thursday is good.
not directly before a weekend or bank holiday if you can.

We went for a Tuesday. Packers in Monday, moved Tuesday and then I put the kids in childcare and had three days to sort and unpack.
I’m a teacher though and it was during the summer holidays!

Thursday. Completions happen faster and you are more likely to get a removal van. Money always seems to move slower on a Friday.

Beebumble2 · 12/01/2019 15:12

Tuesday, it allows for removers to pack on Monday and banks etc are open for any hitches.

First time was the Friday before a bank holiday Monday.

Second time was a Monday as our sellers wanted exactly 2 weeks between exchange and completion.

I'd avoid Friday personally due to how busy it gets.

Technically possible to complete any day particular if both sets of lawyers and banks are outside of the U.K. I know if completions on Christmas Day.
Fridays are stressful but do usually work. Last time I went on a Tuesday.
